La Glamour — Make Flossing Fun!

Floss Q: I hate to floss. Is it truly worth the hassle?
A: Yes, yes, yes. Flossing helps to prevent plaque build up in those hard to reach places not touched by regular brushing. Removing plaque (the colorless, sticky coating of bacteria that constantly forms on teeth) is a must-do in order to avoid tooth decay and gingivitis. Lack of plaque will also keep you out of the dentist’s chair.

So, here’s the deal. Make flossing fun. Yes, I’m being serious. It’s possible to enjoy this dental duty with the help of the Oral-B Hummingbird. This battery-operated power flosser takes the stringy mess out of flossing with its gentle but effective vibration. Work the flossing device between each tooth. It’s truly a massage for your mouth that keeps it ultraclean and healthy.

Q: My tan is totally gone! What can I do about my pale-looking skin?
A: When your skin has lost its summer glow and you’re not a fan of sunless tanning, here’s something to try. Play up the pale by mimicking the stark contrasts seen in nature during wintry months.

Apply a fresh foundation that matches your current skin tone. Dust it with a light translucent powder. Brush soft pink blush on the top of your cheekbones and eyelids. Now the contrast— sweep several coats of dark mascara (navy, black or eggplant) on your upper lashes and treat your lips to deep raspberry lip- gloss.

Q: I’m not good at plucking my eyebrows but definitely need it done! Any pointers?
A: I’ll make it easy for you. Grab a box of Ardell Surgi-Brow Shapers available at shops such as Sally Beauty Supply. These prewaxed, pre-arched strips take the guesswork out of where and how to pluck. Fit the strips under your brow’s arch and rub in the direction of your hair growth. Then gently pull the skin near the eye to tighten it and zip the strip off in the opposite direction of hair growth.

Mandisa True Beauty Tips
from “American Idol” finalist Mandisa
“Even though I have an overbite, my favorite feature is my smile. I think it lights up my face,” Mandisa says. She loves Listerine Whitening Pre-Brush Rinse to keep her teeth pearly white. And that clear skin? “Pro Activ Solution! I swear by it. It eliminates acne and improves the overall quality of my skin.”

Proactive

Even though rudely insulted by an Idol judge about her outward appearance, Mandisa let her true beauty shine by handling herself with grace, poise and the love of Christ. That’s truly beautiful!
